January 2 - Don't Dream It - Be It!
My Tuesday workout is the easiest of the week; this morning just 3x10 + 1x5 min. running with some core weight training and a good stretch. I am trying to get my head around starting earlier each morning and set my alarm today for 4:30 a.m.
Didn't much matter today as I don't think I slept much last night - I'm obsessing a little about a work project. Still I'm making progress - I continued with my workout... putting my training first. Once upon a time in the not too distant past, I would have got up and raced into the office.
I was dowloading music last night from I-Tunes and, of all things, I stumbled across a remake of the 70's cult film TheRocky Horror Picture Show called The Rocky Horror Punk Show. I thought what the hell and, dowloaded it - not bad. Anyway, near the end, one of the songs features the line in my title for today. As I was listening, I thought damn straight! I have been dreaming of running a marathon for some time and this year I will do it!
I've strung together a couple of good food days. Day 57 today without a cigarette.
On my way home from work, I stopped by the YMCA and for a tour. I am going to join to start the transition to the indoor track next week. As much as I love running, I hate the snow and ice and simply don't want to run through it until closer to the spring thaw.

Hi! I've got sitemeter on my blog and noticed that you dropped by. Accidentally, no doubt... but i read through yours and wanted to wish you GOOD LUCK!!! on your goal to run the marathon. I'm by no means a runner and have absolutely no advice to offer, BUT it seems that we've got a few things in common: 43, gay, blogging.
When i first started my blog, i would always look forward to getting comments. they rarely came and I was a bit discouraged. despite the discouraging lack of comments I continued to blog and found that it was really good for me.
So anyway... I'll stop blog crashing you and just say keep it up and I hope you kick some major ass in Chi-Town!
Thanks shuboy - a couple more things we have in common - in a former life, I was a fashion buyer for a major chain of Canadian department stores. The world stopped for me each month on the day that Vogue hit the news stand.
And, I am a HUGE Sondheim fan. I listen to America from West Side story about a dozen time a week - in fact, I have no doubt that it will be one of the songs that I listen to if I make it to the final miles of the marathon. At the moment, I am obsessed with the Assassins soundtrack.
Thanks again for taking the time to write..
Scott
Scott,
Was it Holt/Renfrew??? I was in Toronto to open a store for the company I work for... on Bloor St. There was a Holt/Renfrew just down the block and I went INSANE in there! i still get cards from the sales person that helped me.
You're a Sondheim fan??? I was a professional dancer a million years ago... Sondheim is not kind to dancers... I did a production of West Side Story early in my career and counting his stuff was some kinda' tough!!! Yet it still remains one of my favorite theater experiences.
I finally downloaded Passion onto my iPod... such pain and such beauty all at once. Like most of his stuff, it's a challenge, but so worth it.
Anyhow... feel free to swing by my blog anytime!
Take Care!
Shuboy,
I wasn't a buyer for Holt Renfrew, but like most retail queen's, I did work there at one point in my life.
Ah... Passion. If it is available through ITunes, I'm going to download it as soon as I finish writing this. I saw it on Broadway in 94 and have a tape around somewhere but I guess I've let it slip off the radar. You capture its essence so beautifully!
